About The Artist

For Senior Artist Nicole Thompson,

creativity knows no bounds. The Australia-based artist, who specializes in body art, theatrical and avant-garde makeup, creates without rules, and is passionate about fusing her love of art with innovative body designs, drag or even bridal makeup. “I see it all as moving artwork,” she says. Whether working with Cirque du Soleil performers on their dramatically eye-catching looks, or traveling the world creating the season’s top trends at international fashion weeks, M·A·C is Nicole’s wonderland.

FABULOUS 40S

“I love the hair and makeup of the 1940s. I love that women made the effort with their whole look – this is something I wish women still did today. They didn’t leave the house without setting their hair and coordinating their outfit, and they didn’t just focus on one feature, their whole face was made up immaculately. Eyes were defined, eyebrows were shaped, cheeks were glowing and lips were impeccable and glossy.”

HEART OF ART

“Painting, painting and more painting – I love to lose myself in it. All the stress or worries in my life seems to disappear as soon as I pick up a pencil or paintbrush. I love oil painting and I have many pieces around my family’s homes and my own. I also love to pull apart clothes and put them back together. I find great pleasure in taking vintage pieces and cutting, shredding or altering them to create my own artworks. Art is my passion.”

DREAM JOB

“During the year I travel to work on the international fashion weeks as part of the Pro team. I have worked on some dynamic and iconic shows such as Vivienne Westwood, Marni, DSquared, Just Cavalli, Pucci, Giambattista Valli, Collette Dinnigan and Moschino. Doing this for the last few years has been just incredible. I have worked with my makeup heroes – Val Garland, Alex Box and Tom Pecheux – and taken so much away from all the shows I have worked on!”
